Hello!
If you're a writing student at Champlain you're probably aware of the poetry reading at Halverson's cafe on December 6th. If not, well, there's a poetry reading at Halverson's Cafe on December 6th!
I'm looking forwards to attending this event, as I'm sure most everyone is, but if you're anything like me then you're nervous about actually reading. This is a slight problem, but it's one we can solve.
We all get along well enough, so why not meet somewhere outside of class and get some practice sessions going? It's one thing to read a poem in front of the mirror, and another to submit it here or to someone else for review--but it's a whole other world reading in front of live people.
So if anyone's interested in this, drop a line here. We can set up times for a couple of us to get together and have a good ol' poetry jam session.
I'm willing to meet in my apartment--I live in Spinner which might make it easier for some people, and if you don't live in Spinner, well, I could probably borrow a car. If another space is preferable, obviously we could meet there. Also, as far as I know everyone is welcome to attend the Halverson event, even if you're not a student. And, for sure, everyone is welcome to practice reading poetry with us!

I agree, reading a poem with a bunch of people, especially professional writing majors, will be good practice for the Art Orgy. Seeing as I live in Spinner to, I'm up for the meeting place being Spinner. However, I could honestly care less where we meet.

I think this is a brilliant idea. My apartment is on College St, we could meet there if for whatever reason Spinner doesn't work or isn't available.

I'm going to try and come back from break with a working draft of the piece I'm going to perform.
Would anyone be ready and willing to practice the weekend after Thanksgiving?

Yeah. The piece I think I'm reading is already done.

Well, no one's really taken this offer, which is lame. I hope everyone's ready and confident to read at Halverson's, though! I'll be around tonight and tomorrow if anyone wants a last minute run-through or advice. (Not that my advice is any good.)
